Meet Leigh
Leigh Wambsganss (womz-gonz) is the proven conservative candidate for Texas Senate District 9. A fighter with over 30 years of grassroots leadership, standing up for Texas families, defending constitutional liberties, and holding government accountable, Leigh is the conservative choice.
Born in Virginia, Leigh’s father was a police officer before joining the US Army and relocating the family to Fort Sill in Oklahoma. Leigh’s mother was an insurance agent.
Leigh holds a B.A. in Communications and an M.S. in Organizational Management.
Leigh began her professional career working as a television news anchor, reporter, and producer. She left television to work on congressional campaigns during the Republican Revolution of the 1990s, before moving to Texas in 1996 to continue fighting for Christian conservative values. There, she founded Southlake Realty, a boutique real estate firm.
A committed volunteer for the GOP, Leigh has served for over a decade on the Tarrant County Republican Party Executive Committee and held key leadership roles with the Republican Women of North Texas. Leigh has been a delegate to six Texas Republican State Conventions and served on the GOP Platform Committee, working to advance conservative principles statewide. Leigh has dedicated her adult life to leading grassroots campaigns, advancing pro-life and Second Amendment causes, protecting parental rights, lowering taxes, school safety and advocating for domestic energy.
Leigh’s skills as a communicator and depth of understanding of Texas public policy make her the best advocate at the Texas Capitol. She has testified before House and Senate Committee on key issues in Austin.
Leigh helped lead one of the most impactful fights against Critical Race Theory in the country, advancing parental rights and transparency in education. As Executive Director of Patriot Mobile Action, she played a pivotal role in expanding Texas’ conservative majority through targeted voter engagement.
Leigh has been recognized as a Top 5 Power Player in North Texas by Axios. She is a frequent voice on national media, appearing on Fox News, Steve Bannon’s War Room, OAN’s Tipping Point, The Charlie Kirk Show, and other platforms, championing conservative values and policies while energizing grassroots activists across Texas and the nation.
Active in the community, Leigh also serves on the Board of the North Fort Worth CRC Center, which provides food and resources to nearly 20,000 citizens each month, and has served on the Board of Directors for Mercy House Ministries, supporting mothers and children in crisis.
A Christian, wife, mother, and dog lover, Leigh lives in Southlake with her husband, Andy. They have two grown sons. The Wambsganss family worships at The Met Church.
