Property Tax Reform

Texans are being forced out of their homes by skyrocketing property taxes. Leigh has a record of fighting for lower tax rates at every level of government. She supports increasing the homestead exemption and expanding compression, on the road to abolishing school property taxes, while maintaining school funding.

Border Security

While President Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan have dramatically slowed the current surge, Texas must remain vigilant in defense of our border. Under President Biden’s open-border policies, Operation Lone Star officers made over 500,000 apprehensions and seized enough fentanyl to kill every man, woman, and child in America. Leigh will be a tireless champion for strong border security and putting Texans first.

Public Safety

The government’s first responsibility is the safety of its citizens. Leigh spearheaded her local School Resource Officer program, collaborating with local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Leigh advocated for Tarrant County’s adoption and implementation of the 287g program. Leigh will lead the charge for bail reform next Session to keep violent, repeat offenders behind bars.

Education Freedom & Public-School Funding

Every Texas child has a right to a good education, every Texas teacher deserves a fair wage, and every parent has a right to make educational choices for their children. The recent school choice legislation in Austin offers additional opportunities for educational freedom, but requires vigilance in supporting our public schools. Leigh is a warrior for ensuring our public schools are fully funded.

Second Amendment

A passionate Second Amendment advocate, Leigh has a long history of advocating for Texans’ right to bear arms. Passing legislation banning unconstitutional Red Flag Laws was a huge victory, but more work still needs to be done. Leigh is committed to expanding civil liability protections for gun owners. While Texans can be justified in their right to self-defense in a court of law, they can still face crippling civil lawsuits – and this will be a priority next Session.

Defending Life

Every life is a gift from God. Leigh has a long history of commitment to the sanctity of life. She has served on the board of a maternity home that supports and ministers to single pregnant women and cares for their children. Leigh believes we must be a voice for the voiceless and is committed to defending innocent life.

Protect Women’s Sports & Private Spaces

Leigh has testified in Austin to protect women and girls. Allowing men to compete in women’s sports undermines decades of hard-fought progress toward equal opportunities for all women. It unfairly limits women’s opportunities to succeed, earn scholarships, and directly contradicts the original intent of Title IX. Furthermore, allowing men in women’s restrooms and locker rooms violates the privacy, safety, and dignity of women and girls.

Leigh is a champion of energy independence for Texas and the United States. Oil and gas production remain a key economic driver in Texas. The safety and security of our grid is vital to state and national security. While renewables have a place, and nuclear will be important for our future – all energy production must stand without government subsidies.
