FORT WORTH – Leigh Wambsganss (womz-gonz), longtime political activist, announces her candidacy for Texas Senate District 9 today.
“I am announcing my campaign for Texas Senate, District 9, because this district deserves a proven conservative fighter,” Wambsganss said. “I have spent decades on the front lines of the conservative movement-leading one of the most impactful campaigns against Critical Race Theory in the country, working alongside Republican leaders during the Republican Revolution of the 1990s, and consistently standing firm for pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment values. I am not a career politician—I’m a battle-tested conservative who gets results.
“I have spent my entire adult life as a volunteer public servant, not for a title, but out of conviction. From leading grassroots campaigns to serving on the front lines of the Second Amendment and pro-life movements, my mission has always been clear: to defend conservative Christian family values, safeguard our freedoms, and ensure Texas remains a stronghold for faith, family, and freedom. I don’t need a paycheck to fight for what’s right—I’ve been doing it my whole life.”
Leigh Wambsganss is a lifelong conservative leader with decades of grassroots political experience in North Texas. A former congressional staffer and campaign veteran, she has organized and fundraised for hundreds of conservative causes as a volunteer. She has served for over a decade on the Tarrant County GOP Executive Committee and held key leadership roles in the Republican Women of North Texas.
Leigh has advanced state-level policy, including power grid reforms with the Texas Eagle Forum, and championed pro-life values through her service on the Board of Directors of Mercy House Ministries. With a heart for service, she currently serves on the Board of the North Fort Worth CRC Center that serves nearly 20,000 citizens in need each month.
She holds degrees from Dallas Baptist University and the University of Central Oklahoma, and lives in DFW with her husband and two sons.
A more formal announcement will be made in the coming weeks.
